Just watched your Panic at the Dojo review... This would be a fun build in that game!

Poaching is taken *very* seriously in the world of Monster Hunter. They have Hunter Guild Knights whose duty it is to literally assassinate rogue hunters who break the law like murder or poaching outside the confines of the guild's ordained hunting quests. It's why even "free hunts" can only be undertaken by hunters with the appropriate authority and permission from the guild and why every one of their kills/captures are tracked by the guild.

I'm not a fighting game guy (at least since Super NES Street Fighter II days), but I really appreciated your enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject. Definitely agree that mechanics inform the genre and gameplay experience so much (which is why I get frustrated at all the D&D 5E reskins, but that's another can of worms, haha).

I've started looking at Darkstalkers stuff since that one Capcom collection was announced, I've admittedly never been huge into fighting games, but Darkstalkers does seem like it has a lot of cool concepts.

This game seems like great to play on a PC, but bothersome to play on a board.

As a brazilian I must say your brazilian portguese pronunciation is good, muito obrigado pela analise e retrospectiva da capoeira nos jogos 2d, um abraço some corrections ginga - "gin" should be pronouced like "jin" from "Jin kazama" meia lua de frente - the "te" in "frente" should be pronounced like "thy" from "cathy" ps: capoeira move names are long and complex names, its perfectly ok to mistake them benção - it does not have the "^" because portguese words only have one "acento" by word, the pronunciation would be "ben" like "benjamim" + "soun" from "sound"

If you also detour into board games, Level 99 Games has done a very good job of translating fighting games into a card game with their Exceed system. They recently printed a guilty gear box specifically.

This looks awesome, but the the voice over keeps crackling and is really hard to listen to.

I have often felt underwhelmed when playing as an unarmed fighter in more traditional systems. But this sounds and feels AWESOME.

This is an interesting set of mechanics. I've always felt that combat in D20 games (D&D, Pathfinder, etc.) is a bit, well, bland for all of the reasons mentioned - despite the reams of rules, special abilities, spells, etc., etc., etc. If nothing else, I wanted the Monk in particular to be able to do things like use stances, positioning, and combos that lead up to a strong final strike. There's some good food for thought in here, I'm going to grab a copy and read through it for ideas.

Usually people claiming that a character has "no personality" mean that they have "no personality I find cool/sexy/interesting". I love fighting games but they really embody the saying "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" when it comes to their character lore.
